When prepping your groundwork, be sure to clear away any large stones or debris that might pose a threat to the fabric's integrity. Level the area meticulously to ensure a smooth and even surface. Stubborn weeds, like thistles and docks, should be tackled with a potent weed killer.
When selecting the right aggregate, you have various options at your disposal, such as chippings, gravel, pebbles, crushed stone and more. What matters most is that your mix contains different stone sizes, including small materials that can be compacted to create a solid foundation. For vehicular support, aim for an aggregate depth of 30cm to 40cm (12 to 16 inches) post-compaction.
